Postnatal Massage
Postnatal massage doesn't get talked about as much as pregnancy massage, but the days, weeks and months after giving birth can be an incredibly challenging time for your body and mind. Not only do you now have a whole new person to take care of but you are combining recovering from pregnancy and birth with (likely) a whole new level of sleep deprivation. Throw in the extra strains on your body from lots of cuddling, carrying and feeding your newborn and its obvious that you could benefit massively from some me-time to recharge and relax.
A postnatal massage treatment is tailored to your individual needs. So this might mean that if you are breastfeeding and its uncomfortable to lay on your front the massage can be given with you lying on your side in the same way as for pregnancy massage. Or if your shoulders and back are struggling from the strains of feeding, carrying and maybe even co-sleeping and lying in odd positions and you'd like the hour to be focused on un-knotting that tension you can have the whole session lying on your front, without having to move. If you fall asleep and snore through the session you won't be the first!
I'd encourage you to take advantage of some uninterrupted space for your needs but if you don't feel comfortable leaving your baby at home with someone else you can bring them with you. We can then try to time your treatment around their nap time. I always allow some extra wiggle time for post-natal appointments so if baby decides that they need some attention we can take a break in the treatment for a feed or cuddles.
