FAQs
Who’s behind Honouring Motherhood?
Michaela Scott is a qualified medical herbalist. She’s also a qualified massage therapist with over 16 years experience and specialist training in pregnancy massage. She is an experienced birth doula.
Renni Prelle is a qualified complementary therapist who has specialized in all forms of reflexology, including maternity and baby reflex. She also offers treatments in Indian Head Massage and Holistic Facial Massage. Renni has more than 11 years experience working with mums and mums-to-be.
Isn’t this just a group pamper session?
There are two answers to this. The short answer is: it can be if that’s what you want! The more honest answer is that in our years as complementary therapists we’ve noticed that motherhood can be a lonely journey, so we hope that Honouring Motherhood events can also be safe spaces to be open about the good, bad, messy, crazy times we all have as mothers. While having fun with friends, receiving relaxing treatments from very experienced therapists and eating cake, of course.
I want to organize a baby shower for my friend, can you help with that?
We think an Honouring Motherhood event would be a great way to celebrate with a mum-to-be or a new mum, and let her know she’s loved and supported at this highly charged time. Our events focus less on gifts for the baby and more on nurturing the mum with her friends around her (though we’re not going to stop you bringing gifts too!). If that’s the sort of ‘baby shower’ you had in mind, we’d love to help! We have lots of ideas on how you can support the new mum, too.
Why would I book an Honouring Motherhood event?
We want Honouring Motherhood events to nurture you and remind you of the fantastic work you do as a mother – day in, day out. So there are 1001 reasons you might want to take time out with your friends to look after yourself, but here are a few:
Where do the events take place?
Most people like to host a session at home, so we come to you. If you prefer to gather in a different venue, Renni has a lovely space in her home, or we can book a central venue by arrangement.
How do we shape up our event?
Once you’ve made a booking, we’ll work in partnership with you to create the event that’s perfect for your group. We’ll send through a booking form so you can pick the activities and treatments you’re interested in, and we’ll work with you to get the tone right: some people want a very loose, chatty flow to the session, while others like the chance to do short group ceremonies to strengthen their circle and bond. Most like a bit of both. We’ll go through all the options with you.
You can also bring as much of your own stuff (and by ‘stuff’ we mean items to decorate the space, skills and activities to share, food, thoughts etc!) as you wish to the planning and doing, or you can choose to leave it mostly in our hands.
Got a question we’ve missed? Contact us with anything you want to ask.

- Just because you want to!
